PULSE encourages
support groups for patients and families who have experienced a
medical error or unexpected outcome in their healthcare.
At the very least, talking about the event
can be used in healing and defusing
the anger.
Through support, others can learn about how
medical errors happen and can become educated for themselves and
their loved ones.
No one learns as a result of not talking about
the event, and medical errors, often the same ones, will continue
happening
Often patients and families may feel that
they are in an unsafe position while being cared for. To talk to
someone while in this situation, a medical error may be avoided.
Don’t wait! Call someone if you think you, or a family member
are not getting the proper care needed.
If you think you are alone, you are not. If you
need someone to talk to, and you think there is no one in your area
to confide in, you may be wrong. To start a PULSE chapter near you,
